Green Villa, Thalang Phuket: A Complete Pool & Terrace Transformation by PebbleTec Thailand

When PebbleTec Thailand was invited to renovate Green Villa in Thalang, Phuket, the homeowners had a dream of expanding their living space and breathing new life into their terrace and swimming pool. What started as a simple conversation evolved into a remarkable full-scale transformation led personally by Lewis Jones, CEO & Founder of PebbleTec Thailand.

Opening Up the Home: Extending the Living Area

Lewis recalls that the project really began the moment he stepped into the villa:

“We explored the options of a house extension to open up the current kitchen and living room into a larger space.”

The owners had a terrace area they rarely used, so PebbleTec Thailand proposed incorporating that unused space into the home itself. The result was a bright, spacious extension fitted with brand-new windows and doors , a modern glass-house style addition that dramatically improved the flow of the interior.

Rebuilding the Terrace: Removing Failing Decking

The terrace required a complete overhaul. As Lewis explained:

“We took up the existing and failing decking, poured new foundation, and finished it in a beautiful, non-slip porcelain tile.”

The cream-coloured porcelain, matched to the home’s exterior paint, created a seamless transition between the indoor extension and the outdoor living area , essential for luxury villas across Phuket, Bang Tao, Laguna, and Thalang.

Designing a Built-In Spa: Making Smart Use of Space

One of the owner’s biggest wishes was a spa or jacuzzi, but they weren’t sure where it could fit. Lewis saw potential immediately:

“They wondered if they had enough room, and we decided it would work great at the far shallow end of the pool.”

To make this work elegantly, PebbleTec Thailand designed:

• Beautiful, centred entrance steps
• A connected seating bench
• A spa area that integrates naturally with the shallow end

Lewis admits this wasn’t straightforward:

“We were restricted by the depth of the pool and the width of the seat, so getting it to look symmetric was tricky , but we got there.”

And the final symmetry is one of the standout features of the renovation.

Correcting and Rebuilding the Infinity Edge

The original infinity edge had a major structural issue , it only overflowed on one side. Lewis explained the challenge:

“The infinity edge was out of level, so we stripped it down, dressed all of the levels, and rebuilt it completely.”

The team installed:

• Polished natural granite slabs, bullnosed for a premium edge
• Matching sandblasted granite for the non-slip border
• Coordinated stone for the splash tile and waterline

Precision was key, and the corrected infinity edge now produces a perfectly even, resort-style flow across the full wall.

A Custom PebbleTec Interior Finish

For the pool interior, the homeowners wanted something truly unique. Lewis suggested a blend not commonly used in Phuket:

“This was a custom finish , a mixture of PebbleSheen Prism Blue and White Diamonds.”

To take the colour to the next level, the team added:

• Mother of pearl
• Shimmering Sea aggregates

Lewis described the effect:

“It creates a very vibrant, striking light-blue colour that reflects amazingly in the sunshine.”

The water now has a bright, crystalline glow , a hallmark of high-end PebbleTec Thailand projects.

The outcome exceeded expectations:

“The customer is absolutely over the moon with the results.”

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the right time to renovate your swimming pool?

When visible signs like cracks, leaks, peeling surfaces or equipment failures begin to appear. Early renovation saves money.

Are leaks always serious?

Yes. Even small leaks lead to bigger problems. Ignoring them results in structural damage and more expensive repair work.

What improvements can be added during renovation?

Modern features like tanning ledges, LED lighting, variable speed pumps, and updated surfaces transform the pool.

How do I know it’s more than just condensation or seasonal change?

If the pool is losing water, has musty odors, mold growth or dark streaks, these are warning signs-not just condensation.

Will renovation improve energy efficiency?

Absolutely. New equipment and materials reduce energy bills and support long-term maintenance and heating systems.

Final Word

Just like a roof protects the home, a properly renovated pool protects your outdoor space and investment. The 7 warning signs are clear indicators it is time to renovate before the issues spread. The earlier you act, the longer your pool will last-and the more it enhances your lifestyle.
